Summer wear with easy care

With the start of summer and the nice warm weather, it's time to stash away the sweaters, jackets, and long-sleeve shirts. We all want to get outside and enjoy the sun and warmth. Why not do so in some easy-to-wear, and easy to care fabrics? Take a look at some of these summer-friendly fabrics, and spend less time worrying about what to wear and more time enjoying the season!

Cotton

No other fabric is as well suited to the summer as cotton. A naturally light fabric, cotton allows for better air circulation than most others. This is perfect for the hot, humid days of summer, as cotton breathes better than any other fabric as well. Another great quality of cotton is that it absorbs moisture from the body. This makes it perfect for summertime wear, as it helps keep you cool and dry

Cotton is extremely easy to care for. Because cotton fiber actually strengthens when wet, it can withstand many washes, especially in hot water. It also absorbs water better than any other fabric, so you can fight even the toughest stains pretty easily. Try washing your cotton clothing with Tide® plus Bleach Alternative, perfect for both whites and colors.

Cotton is versatile, durable, easy to care for, comfortable, and inexpensive. All great qualities that make it perfect for the summer!

Linen

A natural, plant fabric made from flax fibers, linen is another summer-friendly option. Linen, like cotton, is highly absorbent and a good conductor of heat, which means it will keep you nice and cool in the warm summer months. Similar to cotton in its absorbing qualities, linen is the best bet for warm and humid days. It soaks up and loses water rapidly, and can retain moisture with out feeling damp. Perfect if you’re outside during the sweat-inducing days of the season. Linen also clings less to the skin compared to most other fabrics, and cools easily, keeping your skin feeling fresh.

Linen is the strongest of the vegetable fibers with two to three times the strength of cotton. It is smooth, making the finished fabric lint free, and gets softer the more it is washed.

Another great quality of linen is that it’s easy to care for. It's a very durable, strong fabric. In fact, it is actually stronger wet than dry. Naturally dirt and stain resistant, linen cleans easily and can be dry cleaned, machine washed or steamed. Like cotton, linen can withstand high temperatures and can be repeatedly washed without significant wear or tear. Use Tide Liquid to handle any stains on your linen fabrics, just make sure to use warm water for white linens, and cold water for colored linens.

So don't spend time worrying about what to wear and how to care for your summer clothes this season. Instead, get out there and bask in the warm weather!
