Traveling in Packs - Keep Your Clan Looking Clean and Fresh

Travel Truth #1

Wrinkles are directly proportional to the amount of time clothes are in a suitcase.

It's your third day of vacation, and you're getting ready for a fabulous meal at an upscale restaurant. You pull out your favourite skirt and blouse from the bottom of your suitcase only to find they're a wrinkled mess. What to do?

  • Do your best to avoid wrinkles altogether by heeding this packing advice:
  • Don't over or under pack your bags. Items in a too-big bag will move around and make wrinkles more likely.
  • Button all buttons and zip all zippers before folding to preserve garment shape. Carefully fold garments to avoid stretching, indentations and excessive wrinkling.
  • Pack pressed garments or eveningwear in the plastic bags you get from the cleaners to protect clothing from moisture and help keep them wrinkle-free.
  • Unpack as soon as possible once you get where you're going.
  • When all else fails, try hanging creased items in the bathroom while you shower to help steam out wrinkles naturally.

Travel Truth #2

Fresh clothes are essential whether you have access to laundry facilities or not.

Just because you're tourists and no one knows you, that doesn't mean you and your family shouldn't always look your best. If you're staying at a hotel, cottage or campground that has laundry facilities, use them. Pack a bottle of Tide® with a touch of Downy®.

If you know you won't have easy access to a washing machine, remember to pack a bottle of Febreze® so you can eliminate odours and freshen clothes with just a few quick sprays.

Travel Truth #3

Clothes that smell are people that smell.

Cigarette smoke, greasy food, stinky hotel rooms. These are only a few of the bad odours that can permeate your clothes when you’re away from home. No one wants to smell like a roadside diner for an entire week.

If you can't launder right away, spraying with Febreze fabric refresher can help eliminate the odours. When you start your trip, try placing a Bounce® sheet in your luggage to help keep garments smelling fresh.

Travel Truth #4

Most clothing stains are obvious only to you.

While this may be true, no one likes knowing they’re walking around in stained clothing. Good thing there's Tide to Go®. This instant stain remover helps eliminate many fresh food and drink stains on the spot. It's perfect for travel because you can easily take it with you wherever you go — just remember to stash one in your suitcase, purse or backpack. You'll never have to worry about embarrassing food and drink stains again!

Travel Truth #5

An outfit worn in one location won't likely be recognized in the next.

Ah...this one is the real secret to travel success — pack lightly! Thanks to these tips from Tide, it can be done! It's easy once you know that you can keep the clothes you do pack looking clean and smelling fresh wherever you are. Now you just need to find a way to extend your vacation...
